every trip to ikea translates into a major spring cleaning operation for my room. and each time, i uncover a part of my past i'd almost forgotten. today, it was your baby photo, the one i laughed at you about, for looking like a fishball in your kiddy winter wear, pottering around on a four-wheeled bicycle. the one i took and refused to give back.

it wasn't all pleasant memories, it's not something i'm particularly proud of, but it's something i don't regret. you opened my eyes to the world, to life, to love, to the good and the bad. i saw things in a radically different perspective, and i have never quite been able to switch it back since, such are the irreversible effects you had on me. it's been a long time, and i must confess i'd almost forgotten all about us. but the effects are here to stay, a silent reminder of someone who was important to me. so today, i'd like to say, hello, old friend, and thank you for everything you did to me, be it good or bad.

on a seperate note, i finally got myself two cd shelves! goodbye, crashing tower of CDs. and it being the shelves' first day of service, i have conscientiously classified my CDs by genre. my guess is that, within a week, the crashing tower of CDs will reincarnate itself, this time on the audio bench. actually, the "audio bench" is a bloody splinter-inducing (or is it called "untreated pine"?) mini table, bought today, firstly, as a throne to my new ipod speakers, the Klipsch iGroove (more about that later), secondly, and most importantly, because it fitted the crappily-shaped corner of my room between my table and the wardrobe.

now i'm going to show off my new iGroove. apart from it's completely pussified name, i have yet to find a fault with these speakers, except for it's rather short auxiliary input cable, but that's nothing a quick trip to adelphi can't solve. the treble is great, and the bass isn't too heavy, just the way i like it. best of all, it delivers such astounding clarity, you forget how punily unimpressive it looks. goodbye, Bose SoundDock, you've been dethroned.
and scrape the previous best of all, the ULTIMATE best of all? i got it for just below $250, cos retrospective, the cd shop at the esplanade, is closing down and having a 50% storewide clearance sale. so, working only ten metres away, i've been performing the noble duties of bestowing david with my entire life fortune. which hits a new high tomorrow, if i decide to buy the ATH-A1000 headphones, for $275. but hey, it usally retails for $699! maybe getting a job (just this job) was a bad idea after all. next thing you know, i'll be shelling out $1150 for vacuum tube power amps.

and by now, you'd have gotten bored with all the details, and flipped over the mrbrown's blog to read about the iPoke. (eh don't read about iPoke, read about iGroove lah.)
